Supporting oppressed and suffering people worldwide who seek human rights, democracy and greater security. Advocacy, expertise, and partnerships to improve global futures for all.
Our global reach and international advocacy for human rights and democracy are based on a guiding principle that advocacy and advancement are most effective when collaborative and multidimensional. Thus, our work focuses on international partnerships for different human rights causes and various types of advocacy. We believe that calls to action are best achieved through research and expertise, and place these amongst our highest priorities. Collectively, these efforts help to advance human rights progress, and support international frameworks that enhance security, transparency and economic development.
Together, we can achieve a safer, more democratic world that values human rights for its power to drive global human success forward. Together, we are stronger.
From the Persian word: جُرأت
The bravery of oppressed persons who speak out, protest and demand that their voices be heard inspires us to heed their calls to action.
From the Persian word: ایستادگی
We shall not abide, adapt or legitimize the oppressive regimes, governments and human rights abusers of the world. We shall stand in solidarity with all people demanding human rights and democracy around the world.
From the Persian word: نیرومندی
Strength is both personal and collective. We shall nurture our individual tenacity. We shall pursue cooperation and partnerships that uplift others.
From the Persian word: آزادی
Above all, we will champion the unrelenting human spirit to experience freedom, including dignity, safety, equality, the right to learn, freedom from harm, and access to opportunities that bring success and happiness.
The JINA Alliance is collectively supported by an array of active participants, including member organizations, individual members, volunteers, Human Rights Fellows, collaborators, project sponsors, academics, attorneys and experts.
Operationally, JINA Alliance is led by an all-volunteer Board consisting of members elected in accordance with our bylaws, and an additional rotating member position, elected from our member organizations, who serves for a six-month rotation. JINA Alliance member organizations are invited to supplement the Board's decision-making with proposals, projects and research.
JINA Alliance also has an Advisory Board, whose members provide valuable judgment and insights to support our mission and develop impactful programs.

The mission of JINA Alliance requires a deep understanding of the many worldwide crises impacting human rights, democracy and global security. JINA Alliance uses a variety of tools to enhance our institutional knowledge, including open source research, expert-led analysis, consulting with stakeholders who have specialization, attending professional conferences, engaging with on-the-ground networks, and meeting with globally recognized scholars.
JINA Alliance depends on your support to sustain its mission. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% goes to directly supporting our events, programs and partnerships. We are primarily supported by volunteers, do not pay our Board members, and have no paid employees. No donation is too small, and all donations are appreciated.
Collaborations and partnerships are a unique and central aspect of JINA Alliance's mission. Rather than one cause, we champion many, and achieve this goal through cooperation, joint events and partnerships. If you are an individual, organization, nonprofit, corporate sponsor, or other form of community group interested in collaborating, we invite you to learn more.
Members of JINA Alliance are donors who have decided to take an additional step in supporting our mission through annual membership.
